Grand Opening!

Gallery News

As you can probably deduce, I have big news! After years of searching and growing and planning, we've opened our very own gallery space! Pueo Gallery is located at 96 Hana Hwy in the heart of Paia, across the street from Flatbread Pizza. We signed the lease on this space back in March and spent a few months renovating it to get it to what you see here. Lots of overnights, blood, sweat and tears. Worth every second a hundred times over!

We are working to find a balance with the gallery space and the shows that you may know and love. At this point, you can still find my work at the Westin KOR Villas on Airport Beach every Tuesday from 9-3. My fiance Rebecca Frank (yep that happened too, the week before the opening) is there and will be happy to help you with anything or just to talk story. Please be sure to mention to her if you are a return customer, she'll take care of you with an additional discount off of our already reduced show prices!

The show work is pretty similar to what I've shown in the past, mostly open edition prints on metal to 5' wide along with matted prints. Here in the gallery, I've raised the bar quite a bit, and you can come see limited edition metal prints to 80" wide, along with a brand new process called Lumachrome that I'm VERY excited to be sharing. These prints are MAGICAL, giving an incredible light and warmth to the prints that really need to be seen to be appreciated. Only one lab in the world does these prints and I spent a full weekend there with their staff learning and getting set up to print with them. I can honestly say that these are a SPECIAL product, and they are priced well below competitors selling prints that don't quite measure up to these (strictly from a presentation standpoint). They are available floating similar to the metal prints as well as framed in stunning Roma mouldings, which you may recognize as the frame of choice for Peter Lik.

We've brought in a few other artists as well that I know you'll enjoy, and I hope you'll come visit me in our new space to check everything out! I'm here Monday-Friday unless I'm traveling! I found Erik Abel's work through the posters he's made over the years for the big Reef surf contests on Oahu, and have followed along ever since. Bold color and geometric design make them easy to coordinate in home and even easier to love. We are very lucky to represent local mixed media artist Taryn Alessandro as well. Her work has tremendous depth and texture and must be seen in person to be believed. The way the light interacts with the three dimensional texture and metal foils she incorporates captured my heart years ago and I'm honored that she's entrusted her work to Pueo Gallery. Local glassblower Evan Schauss joins our ohana as well. He started as part of an at-risk youth program at the world famous Pilchuck Glass School at the age of 12 and has been creating beautiful work for 22 years now. His studio is just down the road from our gallery and we are lucky to have a huge selection of work at all price ranges.

With the parents celebrating an amazing grand opening. The support and turnout was overwhelming, it was shoulder to shoulder for much of the night! We had a traditional Hawaiian blessing followed by pupu's, beer and wine. Still a little taken back by how many people came to see our space!
