Evan Schauss

Biography

Evan Schauss found his passion for art at the age of twelve at Chihuly’s Hilltop Artist school in his home town of Tacoma, Washington. Evan’s drive lead him to travel around the world to work with masters in the craft such as Pino Signoretto, Lino Tagliapeitra, Dale Chihuly and Martin Blank.

Soon after starting glassblowing, Evan built his first all in one hot shop. The energy efficient “Hot Glass Shop in a box”, has made mobile glass blowing possible. Since Evan’s first creation he has completed building twelve more shops. Evan’s inventions have been operating in Maui since 2008. Through hot shop donations including the Hui Noe’au Visual Arts Center and offering classes in the past to Maui Youth and Family Center, Evan provided opportunity to bring art into the community. Currently also the head of the Sawmill Art Collective, a coworking space shared by other local artists, Evan continues to prove his dedication to the local art community.

With over twenty two years of experience already, Evan spends his days in his Haiku hot shop with his girlfriend Savannah assisting. Together, they continue to explore the meaning and expression of art through glassblowing and sculpting.
